765 steps to calmness

765 steps to calmness.

I walk my way home after 12-rakaas of spirituality. Breathe in, breathe out. I let the breeze of May give me its goodbye properly. It's the 30th. My therapist told me to invest this month in self-care. I try to meditate and feel the air entering through my nostrils and filling my lungs. I start counting. 1, 2, 3, 4, breathe.

I inhale deeply and find my lips forming a smile.
It's quite ironic, as I'm resisting the urge to breakdown every single moment throughout the day.
I flashed back to the days of passion when I studied how Sufis consider meditation a form of connecting with the soul and our true selves. I found it quite realistic. Our true selves are happy. Our true selves are thankful, grateful and see how the blessings are dominating our lives.

"That We created man in toil and trouble" That is the course of life, but not the human nature. Why are we keen to live in the Heavens where there is no sadness? Because that's what our souls are created to be, happy. Life just knocks us down to see how we'll respond, to shape us and fix the path we walk.

The purest, the most authentic and "consistent" with their true selves are those who die smiling. It requires no physical energy, so even the dead can do it. It just requires freedom of all worldly shackles that bring about despair and sadness, requires absorption of the fact that we've been blessed with life, and now we're meeting our Creator. How could we not be happy?

The one who's consistent with their true self is the one who is able to see the bright side and God’s blessing in everything they go through because that's what the soul needs, happiness, and gratitude.
